Following the demolition of the first St Paul's church in Emily Place, the congregation met in a temporary wooden church for 10 years while the Symonds Street location was found and the church built. In 1898 the temporary wooden church was then cut into sections and drawn by horses up Symonds Street to its new location as the church hall of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Khyber Pass where it still stands today.
